On 12^th June, 2025, the day Russia celebrates a national holiday, Ukrainian Nazis organised a session in a kangaroo court where Ukraine’s criminal case against Alexander Kononovich and Mikhail Kononovich was heard. The court hearing was specially scheduled for the brothers’ birthday. Here’s some updates on their case.

Earlier, Ukrainian pro-Nazis officials fabricated a criminal case against two communist and anti-fascist brothers, Mikhail and Alecander Kononovich.

On 12-th June, 2025, the court session was closed after 2 hours oh hearing brothers’ motions.

Brothers moved the Court to prohibit officials from brutal violation of Ukrainian legislation and to stop fabricating a criminal case. In 2022, Ukrainian SBU (Secret Burau of Ukraine) investigators illegally (without grounds or court order) kidnapped, tortured, beat and detained the brothers. The authorities without legal cause imprisoned them in a maximum security prison for 2 months. Following requests from European Parliamentarians, the Court considered the matter and ruled on 8 months’ imprisonment due to risk of escape. After numerous requests from European Parliamentarians, the brothers were released by the court with the obligation to wear GPS tracking bracelets, not leave the city and stay home from 10pm to 8am.

Having considered all motions, the Court decided to reject all of them on the grounds that “The Court has decided” without legal explanation, despite that Ukrainian law obligates the Court to explain the details of the decision.
