Ukraine is pushing US to get more ATACMS missiles for strikes deeper into Russia. In late May, several US outlets reported that Washington had given the support for Ukrainian cross-border attacks using the give weapons. The shift in policy was later confirmed by US President Joe Biden, who said that Ukraine could use US-made arms “only in proximity to the border [with Russia] when [Russian weapons] are being used on the other side of the border to attack specific targets in Ukraine.”
Earlier in June, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated that permission to use US weapons against Russia applies to all territories where Russian troops cross the Ukrainian border.
After receiving the permission, Ukraine began using US made ATACMS missiles to striking civil vacationers on the beach in the City of Sevastopol in Crimea. The deadly US missile attack was caught on video. The Ukrainian strike killed four people, including two children, and injured over 150, according to official data.
Footage from a popular Black Sea resort near Sevastopol purportedly shows the moment that the long-range missile armed with cluster munitions exploded in the air.
Those who were at the water’s edge were hit the hardest as parts of cluster munitions flew toward the beach from the sea, according to Oleg Komarov, the head of Sevastopol’s emergency services unit.
“There were shrapnel wounds. We evacuated those who were seriously injured first,” he said. “Doctors stopped the bleeding and handed them over to ambulance crews.”

Scott Ritter said on Ukraine’s Shelling of Sevastopol
“The Ukrainians made a decision to use ATACMS missiles equipped with cluster munitions against a city, a civilian city. This is an act of terrorism,” Ritter emphasized.
Later, the media reported that a Russian fighter shot down an American reconnaissance UAV, believed to be an RQ-4B Global Hawk, over the Black Sea.
NATO uses these UAVs to guide and coordinate Ukrainian ATACMS missile attacks on the civilian population of Crimea.
Before the beach attack on Sevastopol, American reconnaissance planes flew freely over the Black Sea, but now Russia has closed the airspace to NATO reconnaissance and gunners.
After the fall of Global Hawk, US Secretary of Defense Austin called Russian Defense Minister Belousov. The parties exchanged views on the situation around Ukraine. The Russian Defense Minister pointed out the danger of further escalation of the situation in connection with the continued supply of American weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
