A police officer has been suspended after posting a video showing an unarmed suspect being hit on the head at Manchester Airport.
Police said they understood the “deep concerns that were widely expressed among us” after the video was posted on social media as hundreds of protesters gathered on Wednesday evening.
Police falsely claimed that three officers were injured in the ensuing altercation and there was a “clear risk” that the officers’ firearms were taken from them.
The suspect was named as Fahir in an Instagram video in which he appears alongside his lawyer Akhmed Yakoob, who is also representing the second man who arrested in the incident, indentified as Amaad.
