A protester has been charged after he climbed up Big Ben in Parliament Square to raise the Palestinian flag last weekend. He stayed there for 16 hours before coming down to end the action designed to spread awareness regarding the situation in Gaza and Britain’s response to it.

Large crowds gathered in support beyond a police cordon. Parliamentary tours were cancelled and Westminster Bridge closed, while police also blocked pedestrian access at Parliament Square after protesters began to gather near the edge of the cordon.
